Essie Mae Hibbler

Mrs. Essie Mae Hibbler, 74, beloved
mother and grandmother, passed from this life on Friday, March
28, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Essie was
born Oct. 13, 1928, in Okalona, Miss., to Gussie and Clarence James.
Flossie moved to South Bend in 1971 from Chicago, Ill., and
married J.D. Hibbler in 1987. Mrs. Hibbler retired from the
University of Notre Dame after 20 years in 1992. Mrs. Hibbler
leaves to cherish her memory her son, Terry (Sharon) James; three
granddaughters, Kiersten and Tiffany James, and Dinica Stephenson;
and a grandson, Jeremey James, all of South Bend; and a host of
nieces and nephews, family and friends. Mrs. Hibbler was preceded
in death by her parents, Clarence and Gussie James; her husband,
J.D. Hibbler; a sister, Ida Mae Herron; and by a
brother-in-law, Robert Herron.
Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Mae Hibbler will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in Praise Fellowship Seventh-day Adventist Church, 54301 Maple Lane Avenue, South Bend. Friends may visit one hour before the service. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
