SOUTH BEND - A. Joseph Heston, 70, of Payson, Ariz., formerly of South Bend, died Monday in Payson Memorial Hospital after a lengthy. He was retired.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1909 in South Bend and had lived here for 35 years prior to moving to California. He had lived in Payson for four years. His wife, the former Marjorie Cantzalaar, survives. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Norma Peterson of South Bend and a brother Robert J, of Mishawaka.

Services and burial will be in Payson. He was a flight Officer in the Army during World War II. The Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
