Carl Hesler Sr.

October 28, 1899 – March 29, 1982

Carl Hesler Sr., 82, of 2221 Beverly Place, was dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital at 12:59pm Monday.  In 1958 he retired from South Bend Lathe Works after 42 years employment, and was then employed for 15 years in the St Joseph County Courthouse.

He was born on October 28, 1899, in Hungary and moved to South Bend in 1912 from Hungary.  On January 3, 1925, in South Bend, he married Ethyl Modory, who survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Bauer of South Bend; a son, Carl Jr. of Lynnfield MA; seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Services will be at 11am Thursday in Memorial Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Gaither Bailey, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 9pm Wednesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N William.  He was a member of the church, where he formerly services as an elder and treasurer, and he was a member of St Joseph Lodge 45 F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.  Masonics memorial services will be held at 7pm Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a church prayer service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
