John J. Hertel: (South Bend Tribune 4/8/1985)

John J. Hertel, 72, of Regency Place, died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday in the nursing home after an illness. Mr. Hertel was a retired draftsman for International Harvester, Fort Wayne. He was born Feb 22, 1913, in Antwerp, Ohio, and lived in South Bend since coming from Fort Wayne in 1980. In November 1945 in Fort Wayne, he married the former Lenora Setlock. She died in October 1979. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Alice Gillen of Granger. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Fort Wayne Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call half an hour before the services in the funeral home. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation, Chicago. Mr. Hertel was a member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Fort Wayne.
