SOUTH BEND - Margaret Jane Hersom, 70, of South 32nd Street, died after an illness at 11:44 p.m. Monday in her home. Mrs. Hersom was employed by Robert Chillage CPA as a bookkeeper for 18 years and retired in 1983 from 1st Source Bank. She was born March 3, 1926, in South Bend.

On Oct. 20, 1944, in South Bend, as Margaret Jane Nave, she married Frederick Charles Hersom. He survives with two daughters, Kathryn Ann Girres of Plymouth and Peggy Lynn Melson of South Bend; three sons, Larry L. of Spokane, Wash., Robert E. of South Bend and John W. of Osceola; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Ann Nave and Mary L. Krueger, both of South Bend; and a brother, Guy S. Nave Jr. of San Antonio. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Cremation will take place. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
