SOUTH BEND - Janet C. "Janice" Hershberger, 91, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, at 11:30 p.m. in her residence. Janice was born on June 1, 1917, in South Bend, to the late Andrew and Angela (Waloska) Chmiel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Hershberger on August 8, 1991, whom she married on August 6, 1955 in South Bend. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Jaronik, and brother, Alex Chmiel. She is survived by her son, Thomas Hershberger of South Bend; her grandson, Carl Hershberger of South Bend; two sisters, Helena Fox of South Bend and Dorothy (Andrew) Erickson of Seattle, WA; and a brother, Leo (Gisela) Chmiel of South Bend. Janice retired from Bendix in 1975. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 27 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. Friends and Family may meet at St. Jude Catholic Church to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 28 at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend, IN 46614.
