G. Herron
June 21, 1955 - Jan. 25, 2010
SOUTH BEND - David G. Herron, 54, former resident of South Bend,
IN, and currently living in St. Paul, MN, passed away on January
25, 2010. David was born June 17, 1955, in South Bend, to Walter
G. and Pauline L. (Whimper) Herron. David grew up in South Bend
and was educated in the South Bend school system. David was a
1974 graduate of LaSalle High School, playing basketball for
George Leonakis and George Griffith. After graduation, David
attended Tennessee State University and the University of South
Dakota on a basketball scholarship. David was currently employed
by Atlas Temporary Agency and worked seven years at Crystal-D
Creations where he was known as "Big Dave" or
"JaDave." David loved to cook and for a number of years
he worked at various restaurants doing what he enjoyed. David is
survived by four sisters, Maxine Chambliss, Lisa (Ray) Jackson,
South Bend, IN, Allyson Herron, Irving, TX, Frances (Craig)
Smith, St. Charles, MO; two brothers, Ronald G. Herron and Mark
E. Herron, Indianapolis, IN; 10 nieces, Carla Chambliss-McGee,
Stacy Chambliss-Milligan, Paul Chambliss, Brittany Jackson, Aslyn
Jackson, all of South Bend, Karreyan Stewart, Irvin, TX, Maggie
Herron, Andrea Herron, Arica Herron, Allison (Noel Scott Sr.)
Labadie; a newphew, Richard N. Hubbard Jr.; a great-niece, Atyra
Herron; three great-nephews, Robert Coleman, William Milligan and
Romel Chamblis; and four great-great-nephews, Jordan Herron,
Jordan Diggins, Tyshawn Labadie and Noel Scott Labadie Jr.; and
other close friends and relatives. Also mourning his passing is a
close companion, Denise Taylor and family, Chicago, IL, Dan Poser
and Rick Coleman, St. Paul, MN, and Derrick Chambliss of South
Bend, Ollie Scott and Paula Johnson. His mother, Pauline L.
Herron; father, Walter G. Herron, grandparents, Willie Mae Thomas
and Beatrice Whimper Kinchen preceded him in death. A memorial
service will be held on Friday, February 5th, at 6 p.m. in the
Cobb Funeral Home, 2525 South Michigan Street, South Bend.
