Stanley A. Herman, 85, who resided at Eagle Lake on South Shore Drive, Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away after an illness at 9:20 p.m. on Monday, July 12, in his home.
Mr. Herman was born on Nov. 16, 1913, in South Bend, Ind., the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Mokwa) Herman. He was educated in South Bend and moved to Edwardsburg in 1961. He formerly worked at Studebaker's for 28 years, and then with Tyler Refrigeration of Niles for 11 years before his retirement in 1974.
He was married to Annette J. Smith on Aug. 31, 1940, in Niles, Mich. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Robert and his wife, Cheryl of Edwardsburg, and David and his wife, Margaret of Edwardsburg. There are four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Albert, Edward, John and Walter Herman; and three sisters, Rose Berlington, Mary Jo Ciula and Gladys Herman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, with Father David Otto, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Church. Burial will be in Edwardsburg Cemetery.
Friends are being received at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from one hour prior to services on Thursday. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
