LAKEVILLE - Margaret E. Herbster, 87,
a lifelong resident of Lakeville, IN, passed away peacefully at
10:30 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2008 in her son's home in South
Bend. She was born July 27, 1921 in Lakeville, the daughter of
Raymond & Mildred (Mangus) Stump. On June 7, 1945 at
Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, North Liberty, she was united
in marriage to Glen Herbster. Together, they enjoyed 55 years of
marriage until his passing on June 30, 2000. She was also
preceded by two brothers, Richard L. & Grant E. Stump. For 28
years, Mrs. Herbster worked as a Teacher, and later a Guidance
Counselor with the Union North United School Corp, and retired in
1983. She was a lifelong member of Pine Creek Church of the
Brethren, North Liberty. She received her BA in elementary
education from Manchester College, and MA in Counseling from the
University of Notre Dame. Mrs. Herbster is survived by two
daughters, Mary (Roger) Haupert of Fort Wayne, IN, Nancy
Herbster of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, and three sons,
Rev. Roy (Carolyn) Herbster of Spring Hill, FL, Rev. Carl
(Debbie) Herbster of Blue Springs, MO, and John (Karen) Hersbter
of South Bend. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, and
twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Services celebrating the life of Margaret Herbster will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, at Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, North Liberty. Rev. Roy Hersbter will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty, IN. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 South Michigan St, Lakeville, IN, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the Church.
