Glenn A. Herbster -- January 13, 1921 -- June 30, 2000
Glenn A. Herbster, 79, residing on Quinn Road in Lakeville, Indiana, passed away at 4:54 PM on Friday, June 30, 2000 in the emergency room of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.
Mr. Herbster was born on January 13, 1921 in Lakeville to the late J. Arthur and Carrie O. [McBride] Herbster. He had been a lifelong area resident.
On June 7, 1945 at the Pine Creek Church of
the Brethren in North Liberty, he married Margaret E. Stump, who
survives.
Along with Margaret, his loving wife of 55
years, he is survived by two daughters, Mary [Roger] Haupert of
Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Dr. Nancy Herbster of Goma, Democratic
Republic of Congo; three sons, Roy [Carolyn] Herbster of Spring
Hill, Florida, Carl [Debbie] Herbster of Blue Springs, Missouri,
and John [Karen] Herbster of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren Emma: two sisters, Virginia Balsbaugh of
Lakeville and Zelma [Robert] Baughman of Plymouth; and by a
brother, Robert [Elsie] Herbster of Warsaw, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by a sister,
Florence Weigand.
Mr. Herbster retired in 1983 after 50 years
with the Carpenter's Union Local 413 in South Bend. He was
honorably discharged and served his country with United States
Navy during World War II. Mr. Herbster had been a longtime
active member of the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren. He
had an extremely strong faith in God and raised his children
loving the lower with the heart for serving Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on
Thursday, July 6, 2000 in the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren,
69531 Pine Road, North Liberty, Indiana. Pastor Norman
Replogle will officiate. Graveside services and burial will
follow at the fair Cemetery North Liberty.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to
8 PM on Wednesday, July 5, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 South
Michigan Street, Lakeville, and One-hour Prior to Services at the
Church on Thursday.
