Edgar F. Herbster, 702 North St. Joseph's Street, former owner of the old Herbster shoe store in the 900 block of Michigan Street, died at noon Monday in the Jones nursing home after an illness of four weeks.  He was born in Lakeville, this county, May 17, 1864, and was married November 17, 1889, to Miss Cora Slugh, who died in 1944.  Surviving are three children, Mrs. Ethel Detling and Edgar D. both of South Bend, and Mrs. C. R. Carson, Long Beach, California; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Friends may call in the Hay funeral home after 7 PM today until funeral services there at 2:30 PM Wednesday.  Rev. H. K. Joyce, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
