Mrs. Carrie O. Herbster, 92, of 23223 Quinn Road, Lakeville, died at 8 PM Sunday in Memorial Hospital after brief illness.

She was a former schoolteacher.  Born on June 12, 1889, in Marshall County, she lived in the area all her life.  On April 29, 1914, as Carrie O. McBride, she married J. Arthur Herbster.  He died on April 13, 1938.  She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Florence Weigand of South Bend, Mrs. Virginia Balsbaugh of Lakeville and Mrs. Zelma Baughman of North Liberty; two sons, Glenn and Robert, both of Lakeville; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Violet Barnhart of La Porte.

Services will be at 11 AM Thursday in the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, North Liberty.  Rev. James Simmons, pastor, will officiate.  Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Wednesday in the Palmer Memorial Chapel, Lakeville, and 10 to 11 AM Thursday in the church.  She was a member of the church and a graduate of Valparaiso University.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
