Howard Hepler
Private Howard Hepler, son of Mrs. Julia Hepler, 124 North Spruce
street died of pneumonia at Elliston field, Houston, Texas,
Saturday morning. He is survived by his mother and his wife, Mrs.
Milly Hepler, 823 North Michigan street. He also leaves five
brothers, Clarence, Frank, George and Valley of this city, and
Harvey, of Detroit, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Robert Campbell, of
Detroit, Mich. He was born April 6, 1890 and enlisted at South
Bend, Nov. 13, 1917, and was sent to Jefferson barracks, Mo.,
from there he was transferred to Camp Custer, then to Lake
Charles, La., and finaly to Elliston field, Houston, Texas. He
was a member of the aviation corps. The body will arrive in South
Bend, Tuesday, according to military officials at Ellison field.

South Bend Soldier Will be Buried Wednesday
Funeral services for private Howard Hepler, who died
Saturday at Ellison field, Houston, Texas, will be held Wednesday
afternoon at 2 oclock at the residence of his mother, Mrs.
Julia Hepler, 124 North Spruce street. Rev. W.H. Freshley,
officiating.
Burial will be in the city cemetery. The pallbearers will
be Home guards, and a full company will accompany the body to the
cemetery.
