Rev. Oscar R. Hentges CSC, 73, died this
morning in the Community Infirmary on the campus of the
University of Notre Dame. He was a faculty member of the
University of Portland, Portland, Ore. from 1925 to 1957. Earlier
he served at St. Edward’s University, Austin, Tex., and at
Sacred Heart Church, New Orleans.
He was born Dec. 7, 1884 in Portland. He
entered he novitiate of the Holy Cross Fathers, July 4, 1908 and
was ordained in the priesthood June 25, 1913.
Friends may call in the Corby Hall Chapel
from 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Office of the Dead will be recited at 5
p.m. Wednesday and funeral services will be held from
Sacred Heart Church, on the campus, at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial
will be in the Community Cemetery.
