John Patrick Henry

SOUTH BEND - John P. "Pat" Henry, 71, a lifelong
resident of South Bend, passed away Friday, June 27th, in his
home. He was born on October 13, 1936, in South Bend, to the late
Robert and Lelia (Humphrey) Henry. John was known to his
family and friends at Uncle Pat or Pat. Pat was a
1954 graduate of Adams High School and a 1959 graduate of Purdue
University. While at Purdue, he received a bachelor's degree in
science engineering - computer engineering. Pat worked at Bendix
for 37 years as a computer engineer prior to retiring in 1996.
Pat had served his country proudly as a captain in the U.S. Army
until receiving his honorable discharge in 1962. He was also a
member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He is survived by
his loving family: his nieces and nephews, Dennis L. Henry and
his wife, Cheryl of Greenwood, IN, Susan L. Henry of Chicago,
Timothy N.L. Henry and his wife, Michaele of Marcellus, MI,
Travis J.L. Henry and his wife, Marron of Marcellus, and Patricia
T.L. Henry of South Bend and their mother, Maureen C. Harris of
South Bend; his sister-in-law, Barbara Henry of South Bend; and
12 great-grandnieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death
were his sister, Betty A. Henry; and his brother, Michael L.
Henry.
Friends may visit with his family on Monday,
June 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home,
521 N. William St., South Bend. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday, July 1, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with Barbara Wirt
officiating. Friends may also visit with the family again on
Tuesday one hour prior to the start of services. Burial will
follow at Highland Cemetery.
