KNOB NOSTER, MO -Senior Airman John Evan Henry came face-to-face with his Lord and Savior, while on active duty as a vehicular mechanic at Whiteman AFB, Missouri. He is survived by his parents, Evan and Patty (Wilson) Henry of North Liberty, IN; his sisters, Cynthia Louise Henry of Mill Creek, IN and Leanne Christine Henry, still at home; Grandparents, George and Wilda (Kronk) Henry of North Liberty, IN; 5 aunts, 4 uncles and 14 cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Jane Ann (Nickerson) Wilson of Mill Creek, IN. He was born in South Bend, IN spending the first 23 years of life in North Liberty, IN and the remaining years at Lackland Air Force Base, Keesler AFB and Whiteman AFB. He was a 2002 graduate of New Prairie High School. In 1994, John accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized by his father. When he was a 6th grader, he won the LaPorte County Spelling Bee and earned the privilege of traveling to Washington DC to compete in the 1995 National Spelling Bee. John accompanied the NLCC Youth Group, of which he was a member to Mexico with the task of helping to build a worship facility in 1999. In 2006, his family was yet again filled with pride to watch him complete his basic training in the top 7% of his class as an honor graduate from Lackland AFB. John's career goal was to become an air traffic controller. His interests were guitars, electronics, camping and working on cars, to name a few. He found joy in his sisters' lives and his black lab, Jenny. He had a dry sense of humor and exercised it often, but mostly he demonstrated a serious disposition. He is and will be missed more that he could ever know. Funeral services will be held at North Liberty Church of Christ, 65225 SR 23, North Liberty, IN on March 17, 2010 at 11:00 am Wednesday, with Pastor Brian Henry, uncle of the deceased, officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 3- 8 pm Tuesday, March 16, 2010 and one hour before funeral services at the North Liberty Church of Christ.
