Geraldine E. Hennion

July 24, 1917 -- Jan. 10, 2006

Geraldine E. Hennion, 88, of South Bend and formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday morning, January 10, 2006, in St. Paul's Retirement Community.

Geraldine was born July 24, 1917, in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late Andrew and Bertha (Thallemer) Horning. She grew up in Mishawaka where she spent her life until moving a few years ago to St. Paul's Retirement Community in South Bend. Geraldine lived in St. Paul's Congregate Living and a week ago moved into their Health Care Center. Geraldine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka.

Geraldine's surviving family includes her son, Robert J. (Carol) Hennion of South Bend; a grandson, Michael J. Hennion of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews.

Geraldine was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph R. Hennion; two sisters, Evelyn Horning and Elvira Wagner; and by two brothers, John Horning and Francis Horning.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. There is no public visitation. Geraldine will be entombed in the mausoleum at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Joseph R. Hennion Memorial at St. Joseph High School in South Bend.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care that Geraldine received at both St. Paul's and Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.

Geraldine's family is being served by Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. Third Street, Mishawaka.
