MISHAWAKA - Services for Evelyn S. Hempstead, 72, of Bennington Drive, who died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday in Elkhart General Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hahn Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Hempstead was born Jan. 8, 1924, in South Bend. On June 13, 1959, in South Bend, as Evelyn S. Luczkowski-Andrews, she married Joseph R. Hempstead. He survives with a daughter, Caroline J. Mitchell of Edwardsburg; two stepdaughters, Sally A. Hempstead of Dowagiac and Mary A. Hempstead of Elkhart; a stepson, Joseph R. of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. She was a member of Madison Chapel Church, Wakarusa.
