MISHAWAKA - Marian Ruth Helenburg, 72, of 500 Lincoln Way East, died at 8:28 a.m. Wednesday in Regency Place Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Helenburg retired in 1984 from Memorial Hospital Environmental Services after 11 years of service. She was born Aug. 19, 1923, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident.

On July 23, 1940, in South Bend, as Marian Ruth Banacka, she married William C. Helenburg Sr. He died June 6, 1979. Surviving are two sons, Michael L. of South Bend, and Ronald D. of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Brinkman of Mishawaka; and three brothers, Jim Banacka of South Bend, Charlie Banacka of Mishawaka, and Bob Banacka of Elkhart. A son, William C. Jr., died Nov. 7, 1980.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 William St., South Bend. Private family burial will be at a later date in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Avalon Grotto, Humanitarian Fund, 61601 S.
