Brother Conrad CSC, 76, whose family
name was John Heiser, died early Sunday morning in the community
infirmary of the Congregation of Holy Cross. He returned to
Notre Dame four years ago from Texas, where he had spent most of
his life as a religious and was confined to the infirmary
suffering from ailments of age. A former principal of St. Mary’s
parochial school and supervisor of St. Edward’s University
farm, both in Austin, Texas. He received the habit Nov. 11, 1876
and made his final vows Sept. 11, 1887. He was born in Sterling,
Ill. Aug. 18, 1860. A sister, Sister Mary Meinrad of the Sisters
of St. Agnes, survives.
The funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday
morning at Sacred Heart Church on the campus and burial will be
in the community cemetery.
