Sister Mary Ludgeria CSC, 83, died Friday evening in Saint Mary’s Convent following an extended illness. She was born Elizabeth Hegener in Hamm, Germany, in 1885 and came to the United States in 1903 when she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She received the habit in 1904 and made her professional vows in 1906. During her religious life she was stationed from 1907 until 1958 at Holy Cross Convent at the University of Notre Dame. In 1958 she moved to the St. Mary’s Convent. There are no close survivors or relatives.

The requiem high mass will be offered in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at 6:30 a.m. Monday with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call in the convent parlor today and Sunday until 7 p.m.
