Yolanda Hegedus

After eight years of suffering from
Alzheimer's Disease, Yolanda Hegedus, 79, died peacefully
on Friday, March 20, 1998. Yolanda was born in South Bend, Ind.
on Dec. 11, 1918, to Julia (Lunk) and Menyhart Nagy.
After attending high school, Yolanda went to work as a seamstress
at the South Bend Toy Manufacturing Company. She worked there
until the plant closed in the early 1980s.
On Oct. 28, 1950, Yolanda married Anton E.
Hegedus, Jr. He died after suffering complications from diabetes
on May 24, 1998. Yolanda was also preceded in death by a
grandson, Rick Crowel, and by a brother, Stephen, who died
of meningitis in 1927 at the age of 2. During the time she worked
at the factory, Yolanda bore and raised five children, Tony
(Lorene Melady) Hegedus, Mary Ellen Hegedus (Jack M. Stewart),
Charles (Janice) Hegedus, Luanne (Jeff) Morris and Jane
Hegedus. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kristin
Hegedus, Jeff Morris, Jacob Morris, Robert Crowel, Jennifer Gordon,
Nichole Stewart, and Patrick Stewart; a great-granddaughter,
Moranda Frison; a brother, Geza Nagy; and by a sister,
Marian Lukavich. Yolanda enjoyed many hobbies. She was an
avid bowler and loved to read. She also did crochet and intricate
needlework. Yolanda remained devoted to her husband and took
pride in her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on
Monday in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at the
Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, and
for one hour prior to the funeral services on Monday at the
Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. A Rosary will be
recited at 3 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 425 N.
Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601-1236.
