Alice Jane Carter-Heeter, 84, of N.
Washington, Wakarusa, Ind., passed away at 12:59 p.m. Friday Feb.
14, 2003, in Hospice House.
Alice was born in Winamac, Ind., on
Feb. 8, 1919, to William A. and Rosabelle (Robbins) Daughterty
who both have preceded her in death.
She was also preceded by one sister,
Martha McCartney and two brothers, Oscar (Pete) and Charles Daughterty
and one son in law, David Johnson.
Alice was a licensed practical
nurse retiring in 1985 having worked for Ridgedale Nursing Home, Memorial
Hospital and Osteopathic Hospital.
She was member of First Church of
the Nazarene in South Bend, Ind.
On Nov. 28, 1938, in Plymouth, Ind.,
as Alice J. Daughterty, she married Truman W. Carter who preceded
her on Feb. 8, 1982. On June 18, 1989, Alice married Wesley
Stewart Heeter. Wesley survives along with one daughter, Carolyn
Johnson of Lebanon, Ohio; three grandchildren, Michael (Kristy)
Johnson of Oregonia, Ohio, Melanie (Brad) Blair of Lebanon and
Melinda (Jay) Kappes of Morrow, Ohio; seven great grandchildren,
Jeremy Johnson, Cassie Johnson, Annie Johnson, Allison Kappes,
Elliott Kappes, Jordan Blair and Jared Blair.
Alice also has three step children
surviving, Barbara (Albert) Beutler of Mishawaka, Ind., James Heeter
of Florida and Greg (Kathy) Heeter of Elkhart, Ind.; seven step
grandchildren; thirteen step great grandchildren and three step
great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1
p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka,
where family and friends may call two hours prior to the
services. Officiating the services will be Dr. Albert Beutler and
Rev. Stephen Beutler Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial
Park, Granger, IN. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethel College,
