Healy, CSC, 67, died unexpectedly this morning at Holy Cross
House, Notre Dame.
He was born on February
6, 1915, in Chicago, and entered Holy Cross Seminary, Notre Dame,
in 1929. He made his first profession of vows in the
Congregation of Holy Cross in 1935 and was graduated from the
University of Notre Dame in 1939. After theological studies
at Holy Cross College in Washington DC, he was ordained to the
priesthood on June 24, 1943. His active ministry was spent
in parochial ministry and various chaplaincies.
From 1943 to
1945, he was a member of the Mission Band. From 1945 to
1949 and 1955 to 1960, he was assistant pastor at Holy Cross
parish, South Bend. From 1952 to 1955, he was pastor at St
Josephs parish. In 1960-61, he was chaplain at
Boysville MI. From 1961 to 1969, he was chaplain at St
Josephs Hospital in South Bend. Form 1974-1976, he
was assistant pastor at St John of the Cross parish, in Western
Springs IL. From 1977 to 1979, he was chaplain at Our Lady
of the Angels Retirement Home in Joliet IL. He is survived
by two brothers, William and John, both of Chicago.
Services will be
at 3:30pm Friday in Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame. Friends
may call after 3:30pm Thursday in Moreau Seminary Chapel, Notre
Dame, where a wake service will be conducted at 7:30pm.
