SOUTH BEND - Sister Christine Healey (Sister M. Edwin), CSC, 86, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Sister Christine was born in San Francisco, CA, to the late Patrick Healy and Ruth Ricci Healy. Sister's many friends will miss her. Sister Christine trained to be a teacher and taught for 23 years in elementary schools in UT, CA, ID and WA. At times during those years Sister was principal, religious superior and teacher. She spent three years caring for her mother and returned to elementary education for another nine years. Sister was the Diocesan Superintendent of Elementary Schools of the Diocese of Fresno. She was the founder and director of the Holy Cross Center for Women in Fresno, CA. She remained in this work until 1999 when she came to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, IN. Sister was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

Reception of the body and wake services today, Sept. 3rd, at 4 p.m. in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 4th in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
