Sister M. Gustava Hayes

SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Gustava Hayes, CSC, 90, of Saint Mary's Convent, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday in her residence. Sister Hayes entered the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Cross on June 1, 1923; was received as a novice Jan. 6, 1924; and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1926. She was born Feb. 4, 1906, in St. Paul, Minn., as Catherine Hayes. She was assigned as a music teacher and served in several schools in California and in Pocatello, Idaho; was a receptionist/secretary in Bixloxi, Miss., and a secretary in Dallas. She is survived by a brother, Louis L. Hayes of Tulsa, Okla.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wedneday in Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's College. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Bertrand Hall, Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
