Marie Mae Hawkins

Marie Mae Hawkins, 85, passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 25, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was a resident at Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, Dugdale Drive.

Marie was born on Jan. 2, 1915, in Wrights, Ala. On July 15, 1937, she married Ellie D. Hawkins in Waterloo, Ala. Mr. Hawkins died on Dec. 26, 1990. Ellie and Marie lived in Mishawaka until retirement in 1972, when they moved to Florence, Ala. After the death of her husband, Ellie, Marie moved back to South Bend in 1992. She is survived by her son, Jack, (Jane) Hawkins of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her daughter, Patsy (Brady) A. (Hawkins) Holderread of Granger; her sisters, Christine Dowdy and Virginia Perkins of South Bend, and Clara Miles of Muncie, Ind.; two brothers, Douglas Young and Larry Joe Young, both of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Angela Hawkins McFillin and Jon Hawkins of Bel Air, Md., and Ann Holderread of Fishers, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Alyssa McFillin, Jason McFillin, Joseph McFillin and Justin Hawkins, all of Bel Air.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hawkins will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. The family will be receiving guests on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the services at 1 p.m. Graveside services will take place on Dec. 1, at 11 am.. in Tri-Cities Memorial Cemetery, Florence, Ala.
