William D. Havens
June 13, 1925 - Dec. 31, 2002
William Dale Havens, 77, of Osage Lake Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Regency Place, South Bend, Ind.
Dale was born on June 13, 1925, in Kankakee, Ill., to the late Kenneth and Neva (Pendell) Havens. He moved to South Bend as a child and has lived in the area for most of his life. On Nov. 9, 1946, he married Barbara J. Harringer, who preceded him in death in May 1990.
Mr. Havens is survived by a sister, Nina Beringer of North Liberty, Ind.; six nieces, Kay White, Linda Robinson, Nancy Darling, Nancy Plennert, Barb Burns and Patricia Pifer; four nephews, Keith Beringer and Patrick and William Sousley, and John Ernsberger; several great nieces and great nephews and by a great-great nephew.
Mr. Havens was employed by Bendix as a machinist for 40 years, before retiring in 1985. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, a parishioner of St. Pius X Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid card player.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in St. Pius X Church. Cremation has taken place.
