Alice E. Hastings

MISHAWAKA -- Alice E. Hastings, 92, of West Tanglewood Lane, died Friday in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, of natural causes. Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca McCarthy and Barbara Watts, both of Osceola, and Brenda Bartle of South Bend; and two sons, William Boyer of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert Boyer Sr. of Bremerton, Wash. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. There will be no visitation. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Alice E. Hastings

Mishawaka – Alice E. Hastings, 92, of W. Tanglewood Lane, died Friday (Jan. 21, 2005) at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.

 

She was born April 13, 1912, in Mishawaka too William H. Hathaway and Emma (Honold) Hathaway. She married John Hastings on Dec. 25, 1956 in Arleta, Calif. He died.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Rebecca (William) McCarthy and Barbara (Robert) Watts, both of Osceola, and Brenda Bartle of South Bend; two sons, William (Pauline) Boyer of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert Boyer Sr. of Bremerton, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; and more than 100 great, great-great- and great-great-qreat-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline, Daisy, and Mildred; and her first husband, Howard R. Boyer.

 

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

 

Mrs. Hastings was a graduate of South Bend Central High School. She was employed as an assembler at Empire Box for many years. She was also an antique dealer for many years and was the owner of Alice’s Antiques and John’s Junk Antique shop. She loved to read and paint.

 

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mishawaka.
