SOUTH BEND - Services for Leona Mae
Harwood, 76, of Burke Street, who died of natural causes at
12:20 a.m. Friday in her home, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in
Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Burial will
be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
Mrs. Harwood was a retired bus driver for
Niles Community Schools and South Bend Community School Corp. She
was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Elkhart. On July 5, 1947, in Elkhart,
she married Frederick B. Harwood. He survives with three
daughters, Sue Shissler of South Bend, Barbara Ann Horvath
of Granger and Laura L. Clark of Galien; three sons, Paul
D. Ostrom of Colorado Springs, Colo., Charles L. Ostrom and
Andrew R. Harwood, both of South Bend; 14 grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Glick of
Elkhart. She attended Community Congregational Church and was a
singer with the River Bend Chapter of the Sweet Adelines.
