SOUTH BEND – Mrs. Margaret M. Hartz, 60, of 19120 Sundale, died at 1:12 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was employed as a registered nurse for 20 years. She was born May 29, 1919 in South Bend and lived here all her life.

On Sept 1, 1951 as Margaret DeVreese, she married Melvin K. Hartz, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Melissa Jancha of South Bend and Mrs. Mary Ann Whitley of Clearwater, Fla.; a son Daniel F. Messinger of South Bend; her father, Daniel F. DeVreese Sr.; a sister, Mrs.S Elinor Andrzejewski, and a brother Daniel F. DeVrees Jr., all of South Bend

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Denis Blank, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Funeral Home Kaniewski & Sons where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society or to the National Shrine of St. Jude through the funeral home.

Editor: She is the daughter of Daniel Francis DeVreese and Anna Marie Kruk. She was previously married to Unknown Messinger, as on 9-1-1951 as Margaret M. Messinger she married Melvin K. Hartz in St. Joseph County IN.
