Jean M. "Billie" Hartz, 79, of Ewing Ave., Mishawaka, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday June 25th in Holy Cross Health & Rehabilitation. Billie was born in South Bend on March 8, 1929, to Alva and Leona Melser, both whom preceded her in death.

She married Devon Hartz in South Bend on May 26,1943. Devon died in 1987. Billie is survived by a son, Rodger Hartz of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and a grandson, Kyle Hartz. She is also survived by two sisters, Rosemary Brannan of Florida and Polly Hatfield of Elkhart. Among other survivors are several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a very special nephew, Donnie Grieder of Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Grieder. Billie had formerly worked at Ball Band and retired from K-Mart.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday June 29th in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, where friends may call two hours prior to services. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
