Esther R. Hartsough, 91, residing on
South Middleboro Avenue, Mishawaka, passed away at 3:00 a.m.
Friday, August 3, 2001, in Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation
Center. She was born November 20, 1909, in South Bend, as the
daughter of Hans & Mary (Heiermann) Rach, and
has remained a lifelong resident.
On June 28, 1928, in South Bend, as Esther
Rach, she was married to Cecil Coe, who died August 21,
1941. They had a daughter, Joan Coe, who died December 27, 1991.
Then, on July 24, 1946, in Newark, Ohio, she married Harold
Hartsough. He died October 7, 1950. She was also preceded in
death by two stepsons, Eugene Hartsough and James Hartsough, and
two step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hartsough is survived by two
stepdaughters, Ruth Hartsough Sible of South Carolina and
Dorothy Hartsough Melson of Colorado; a stepson, Joseph
(Faye) Hartsough of South Bend; and a step-daughter-in-law,
Marcella Bice of South Bend. Also surviving are sixteen
step-grandchildren, and numerous step-great-grandchildren. Esther
was a wonderful grandmother and friend. She was a longtime
faithful member of Apostolic Temple in South Bend. She retired in
1975 from Koszegi Industries following 10 years of service, and
had previously worked for the Studebaker Corp. for more than 23
years.
Services for Esther R. Hartsough will be at
10:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2001, in Apostolic Temple, 2221
South Ironwood Drive, South Bend. Rev. Peter Rowe will officiate.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 6 p.m. today in Palmer
Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and one hour prior
to services Monday at the church. Memorial contributions in
memory of Mrs. Hartsough may be offered to Apostolic Temple.
