Harris, 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, who
resided on North Johnson Street, South Bend, Ind., quietly passed
into the waiting arms of Jesus in the early morning hours of
Thursday, April 2, following an illness.

1955, coming from Bonham, he moved to

leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Helen; six
daughters, Rose Mary Harris, Karen (Willie) Smith, Shellie Harris
and Machell Harris, all of South Bend, Sandra (Clifton) Greene of
Silverdale, Wash., and Stephanie (Roosevelt) Hamilton of San
Diego, Calif.; two sons, Terry Harris and Tedric Harris, both of
South Bend; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters,
Era Boyd and Leatha Wilson of Dallas, Texas, Ola Lamb of Phoenix,
Ariz. and Claire Dotson of South Bend; four brothers, John Harris
and A.J. Harris of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Allen Harris of
Clovis, N.M. and Gloster ''Red'' Harris of South Bend; and a host
of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He
was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Harris, Dorothy
Jean Harris and Lillie Mae Harris; and by a brother, J.W. Harris.
In
1997,
Roosevelt,
a sharing, free-hearted neighbor and friend was a well-loved man.
