Jesse J. Harrison, Sr., 67, of 222 N. Chicago St., South Bend, Ind., died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, in his residence. He was born on Aug. 10, 1929 in Memphis, Tenn., and lived in the South Bend area since 1953, coming from Memphis.
On Feb. 17, 1948, in Hernando, Miss., he married Ruby J. Benson, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Delores and Marla Harrison, both of South Bend; six sons, Casey J. and his wife, Glenda of Indianapolis, Ind., Charles I., Sr., Lonnie J., Jesse J., Jr., and his wife Debra, Lawrence E., and his wife Linda, and Charels I., Jr., all of South Bend; 20 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Govan of Chicago, Ill., Dorothy Odom of South Bend, and Thelma Harrison of Irving, Texas; three dear friends, William Odom, Willis James, and Joseph Brodie, all of South Bend; and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Harrison retired in 1986 as a press operator for Bendix Corporation after 33 years of service. He was a member of Layman Chapel C.M.E. Church, and was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in Layman Chapel C.M.E. Church, 303 S. Kenmore, South Bend. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
