Johnnie B. Harris

Johnnie B. Harris, 89, of Liston Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 19, at St. Joseph's Care Center West.

Mrs. Harris was born in Ashburn, Georgia, on June 5, 1910, as Johnnie B. Walker. In 1921 her family moved to South Bend where she lived all her remaining years. On December 21, 1941, she was married to Joe C. Harris. Mr. Harris passed away in 1971. A sister, Mrs. Willa Mae Neal of South Bend, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harris leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Inez Walker of South Bend; three daughters, Deborah (Larry) Dwyer and Brenda Bradley, both of South Bend, and Sharon Wiseley of Raleigh, North Carolina; and a son, Jonathan Harris of Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren, Christopher Dwyer, Cynthia Dwyer (Michael) Guest, Elizabeth Dwyer (Elarryo) Bolden, Wesley (Tanisha) Harris, Jennifer Bradley and Selena Harris Smith; and six great-grandchildren. A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relations also remain.

Her family was the focus of Mrs. Harris' life. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, crafts, and listening to jazz, blues and gospel music.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 24, at the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 1032 W. Washington St., South Bend, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
