SOUTH BEND - Frank G. Harris, 99, a longtime resident of South
Bend, passed away at 12:34 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010, in
Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, IN, one day after his 99th
birthday. Mr. Harris was born January 31, 1911, in Marion, IL,
the son of Otto and Hattie (Oglesby) Harris. On July 4, 1933, in
Covington, IN, he was united in marriage to Violet McKee, who
preceded him in death on April 29, 2003, following nearly 70
years of marriage. He was also preceded by a son, William Albert
Harris on April 21, 1998, and by nine siblings. Frank was
employed by the Bendix Corp. for 27 years before his retirement.
He was a member of Southlawn United Methodist Church, St. Joseph
Lodge # 45, F.&AM, and the Avalon Grotto. He enjoyed golfing
and his large garden each summer. He is survived by his daughter,
Karen Boughner of Elkhart, IN; a son, Jack (Joan) Harris of South
Bend; 10 grandchildren, Michael Harris, Scott Harris, David
(Shelly) Harris all of Tucson, AZ, Kim (Craig) Clark, Jack (Dee)
Long of Warsaw, IN, Tonya (Steve) Eichenberger, Patricia
Paliscak, both of Tampa, FL, Jack Harris of South Bend, Pamela
(Jeff) Stevens of Elkhart and Chad (Jessica) Harris of Granger;
and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Wilma
Warner of St. Petersburg, FL, and a brother, Phil Harris of
Spanish Fort, AL. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. today, February
4, 2010, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South
Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Ron Dixon will officiate. The
family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the
funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
Osceola. Contributions in honor of Frank Harris may be made to
