Joann Harper

Joann Harper, 48, was born on May 9, 1952, in Elkhart, Ind., to Lee and Esther Harper (Lee). One of five children, she relocated to South Bend, Ind., in later years.  Joann was employed by Kroger's for 22 years, and 10 years with U.S. Airways. Joann departed this life on Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, in Memorial Hospital.

She leaves to cherish her memory a mother and stepfather, Esther and Jeff Lee; two sons, Andre and Adrian Allen of South Bend; four brothers, Lee Jr. (Clara), Steve, Jerry (Lorraine), David (Sandra) Harper, all of South Bend; four grandchildren, Chris, Summer, Alexis, all of South Bend, and Andrea of Indianapolis, Ind. Joann's life was blessed by two special friends, Rodney Allen and Becky Allen of South Bend; and by her special aunt, Gussie Buchanan of Milwaukee, Wis. Joann was preceded in death by her father, Lee Harper Sr. She leaves behind to mourn her passing a host of relatives and friends. Joann enjoyed traveling. Joann received Christ as her savior at an early age. She was a member of the Macedonian Baptist Church, South Bend.

Visitation services will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 16, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 1032 W. Washington Street, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Canaan Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse Avenue, Elkhart. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. Funeral services have been entrusted to the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home.
