Blanche Loretta Harden, 72, of 2116
N. Elmer Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:30 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 2, at her residence. Mrs. Harden was born to the
union of John I. and Dixie (Bird) Jackson on Oct.
18, 1924, in Warren, Ohio.
On June 21, 1947, she was united in marriage
to Clinton Harden in Warren, Ohio. She is survived by her
husband, Clinton Harden; two daughters, Gayle (Julian) Harden-Renfro
and Lynn Harden, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; one granddaughter,
Jenifer Allene Renfro; one sister, Juanita (William) Gilkey of
South Bend; one brother, John Jackson Jr., who preceded her in
death; five nieces, Carolyn and Ashley Powell of South
Bend, Nikki and Alegra Byron of San Jose, Calif., and
Jackie Jackson of South Bend; three nephews, John Jackson III,
Tom Jackson and Tim Jackson; a great-nephew, Lawrence Powell, all
of South Bend, and a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Harden was a member of The Drifters
International, was a retired housing specialist for the South
Bend Housing Allowance, and was a long-standing member of Pilgrim
Baptist Church. Mrs. Harden published the church's Sunday
bulletin, and participated in numerous church fundraising
activities for numerous years.
Friends may call at Alford's Mortuary, 1222
Napier St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 116
N. Birdsell St., with burial following at Highland Cemetery.
