MISHAWAKA - Lawrence "Butch" Wayne Harbin, 67,
of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, December
24, 2008, in his home. Butch was born September 15, 1941 in South
Bend, the son of the late James and Marjorie (Case)
Harbin. He grew up in Mishawaka and attended Mishawaka Schools.
On January 30, 1965, Butch married Helen M. Cole. The
couple made Mishawaka home where they raised their two children.
Butch was employed many years with Kuert Concrete. He had many
interests which included collecting bird houses, Coca Cola
memorabilia, and trucks of all kinds. Butch was a member of the
Classic Chevy Club and could be found at the 50's car nights in
the area. He also enjoyed remodeling his home, restoring old cars
and going to auctions. Butch was always there to lend a helping
hand to family and friends. Butch's family was the center of his
life and they include his wife of 43 years, Helen; a son, Scott
(Donna) Harbin of Mishawaka; a daughter, Charla Harbin of
Osceola; five grandchildren, Kacey, Brenda, Katelyn, Jarred and
Landon; and a great grandchild to be born next March.
Friends may spend time with Butch's family Tuesday from 4 to 6 pm in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. A Memorial Service will begin at 6 pm with Rev. Erv Mize officiating. Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
