Joseph L. Hans, 98, of South Wabash
Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness
at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, in his residence. Mr. Hans was
born on Feb. 22, 1902, in Texas, and was a lifetime resident of
the Michiana area.
On May 17, 1924, in North Liberty, Ind., he
married Thelma G. King, who preceded him in death on Aug.
24, 1999 He was also preceded in death by a son, Russell Hans.
Mr. Hans retired in 1975 as a self-employed construction broker,
having done numerous jobs in the Michiana area.
He is survived by two daughters, Doris J. Lonzo
and Dianna M. Hans, both of South Bend; five sons, Floyd J. Hans
and Dale L. Hans, both of South Bend, Gerald O. Hans of Osceola,
Ind., Robert L.. Hans of Mishawaka, Ind., and Larry G. Hans of
Granger, Ind.; and by nine grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren, who he loved and cherished.
Visitation hours for Mr. Hans were from 4 to
8 p.m. on Friday, June 9, in the HANLEY & Sons
"Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at
WESTIRELANDROAD/Indiana 23, South Bend.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.
today, June 10, in the funeral home, with Rev. Sam Oliver
officiating. Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The
family request that all memorial contributions be made to the
Hospice of St. Joseph County. The HANLEY & Sons
"Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements
and services and extend sincere sympathy to the Hans family.
