Alex Peter Hans, 81, of Wilshire Drive, South
Bend IN, died on Friday, June 26, in his residence.
He was born on April 14, 1917, in St Joseph
Co IN, to Elizabeth (Ference) and Alex Hans, both of whom preceded him in
death. He was also preceded in death by
two brothers, William and Peter Hans.
On April 5, 1942, in South Bend, he married
Mae Ann Foster, who died on June 18, 1998.
Mr. Hands is survived by a brother, Robert
Hans of North Liberty IN, a sister-in-law, Bertha (Wayne) Badollet of South
Bend; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Hans was a retired purchasing agent for
the Bendix Corporation. He and his
family were charter members of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Royals International
Camping Group and American Legion Post 161, Mishawaka IN.
He was an Air Force veteran of World War II,
stationed in Germany, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. While in the army, he was one of the first
people to be chosen for radar training.
He was a graduate of Central High School,
where he received many athletic awards for running.
He was a 32nd degree Mason, a
member of Scottish Rite and Knights Templar and a 50 year member of F&AM.
Services for Mr. Hans will be at 1:30pm on
Monday in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
The Rev. James F. Turrell and Deacon Joseph Illes, both of the Cathedral
of St. James, as well as Rev. Dr. Kennard Wilson of First Baptist Church will
officiate. Burial will be at St Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 S. William Street
