Mrs. Thelma A. Haney, 72, formerly of 134 Middlesboro Avenue, died in St. Francis Hospital, Blue Island, Illinois, at 5:20 AM Sunday.  She had been residing with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer R. Coil, and Posen, Illinois.  Mrs. Haney had been a foster mother for Catholic Charities in South Bend for 25 years.  Mrs. Haney was born September 21, 1900, in South Bend and had resided here most of her life.  In 1923, she was married to Harold Haney, who died December 8, 1952.  In addition to her son, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ann V. Makielski, Mishawaka; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM today and from 4 to 9 PM Tuesday and Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, South Bend.  Services will be at 9 AM Wednesday in St. Anthony de Padua Church, South Bend, with Rev. Robert Yast, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, South Bend.

 

(Note: the child Ann  Makielski, was born November 1947, and may be an adopted child as Thelma would be age 47 and too old to have given birth)

Services for Mrs. Thelma A. Haney, 72, formerly of 134 Middle Burrell Avenue, Mishawaka, who died Sunday and Blue Island, Illinois, will be at 9 AM Wednesday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Rev. Robert Yast, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call until 9 PM today in Kaniewski And Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Haney was born on September 21, 1900, in South Bend and had lived here are most of her life.  She had been residing temporarily with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer R. Coil of Posen, Illinois.  Mrs. Haney was a foster mother for Catholic charities 25 years.  In 1923, she was married to Harold Haney, who died on December 8, 1952.  Surviving besides her son are a daughter, Mrs. Ann V. Makielski of Mishawaka; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
