Loraine C. Hammond, 98, died Wednesday, April 2, at 11:20 a.m. in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka, Ind. Loraine was born Oct. 11, 1904, in St. Paul, Minn., to M.A. and Helen (Tarte) Johnson. She married Robert J. Hammond Sr. on June 25, 1927, in St. Paul. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Stewart.

Loraine is survived by a daughter, Cozette L. and Kenneth Call of South Bend, Ind.; three sons, Richard R. and Sandra Hammond and Raymond D. and Wilma Hammond of Mishawaka, and Robert J. and Kathy Hammond of South Bend; and by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Loraine was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of South Bend, the Altar Society, Resurrection Singers and the Harvest House.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Hill and LaSalle streets, South Bend. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 7, in the McGann Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. The McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, has been entrusted to handle the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 226 N. Hill Street, South Bend, IN.
