Marvin E. Hamman Sr., 69, of King Street, South Bend, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, in his residence. He was born on July 1, 1936, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Myrtle (Anderson) and Frank Hamman.
On Aug. 7, 1963, in Mishawaka, he married Dorothy Bell, who survives. Mr. Hamman is also survived by a daughter, Cindy (Mike) Linn of South Bend; two sons, Marvin E. Hamman Jr., and Frank E. Hamman, both of South Bend; five grandchildren, Johnathon Click, Michael Linn, Caitlyn Linn, Sebastian Hamman and Brenden Hamman; two sisters, Arvilla Reed of South Bend and Gloria Obanion of South Bend; and two brothers, Jim and Johnny Hamman, both of South Bend. Mr. Hamman was a truck driver for the Bureau of Sewers from 1969-1997. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #364 and was a union steward.
Services for Mr. Hamman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26. Rev. John Railton will conduct the funeral services. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, 500 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07091 or to the American Cancer Society, 535 W. Edison Unit #6, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
