Leah Mae Hamilton

Mrs. Leah Mae Hamilton, 75, loving
mother, grandmother and sister, who resided on South Emerald
Street, Chica-go, Ill., passed away following an illness on
Friday, April 3, at St. Bernard Hospital in Chicago. On March 2,
1923, in East St. Louis, Ill., she was born to the late Leah Mae
Hamilton and Howard Holloway. She was also preceded in
death by a daughter, Aquilla in 1941; and by a son, Howard in
1958. In 1987 she retired after working as a self-employed
beautician. She was also a member of the Most Worshipful St. John
Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of the
Antioch Baptist Church in Chicago. She leaves to cherish her
memory a daughter, Virgie B. Miller of Chicago; five
grandchildren, Tony Johnson, Ramone Miller, Cherry Miller,
Kevin Miller and Richard Lovett; five great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Helen Clark of
Chicago, Ill., Hazel Hudson and Argetha Smith, both
of South Bend, Ind., and Lou Alice Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; and
by two brothers, Matthew Smith of St. Louis and John Smith of
South Bend; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for noon on
Thursday at Alford's Mortuary, where friends may call one hour
prior to the service.
