Sister M. Austin CSC, 75, of St. Joseph
Convent, Harvard, Ill., died at 7 a.m. Friday in St. Anthonys
Hospital, Rockford, Ill. after as illness. Born Margaret
Elizabeth Hamer on June 25, 1911, in Urbaba, Ill., she entered
the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Marys
on July 10, 1926 coming from Danville, Ill. She was received as a
novice Aug. 15, 1927 and took her vows Aug. 15, 1929. She was an
elementary school teacher serving in schools in Illinois; Utah;
Idaho; and California from 1929 until 1981. She then served as
hostess at St. Marys Generalate and Our Lady of Holy Cross
Convent until 1984. She served as hostess of St. Joseph Convent
House of Prayer, Harvard, Ill. until her illness.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the
Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Marys with burial in
Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call Sunday
in St. Marys Convent, where a wake will be at 5 p.m.
