Sister Marie Esperie (Theresa Louise Hall), CSC, 88, was born in Iron River, Mich., to the late Franklyn and Therese Fetzer Hall. Her two brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death. She is survived by her nephews, Eugene, Tim and Daniel Marshall, all of Oregon, and Hoyt Mincher of Washington State; and nieces, Bonnie (Ed) Kreeger of California, Laurie (Marv) Vandestreek, LaVerne (Dave) Widmer and Anita Kirk DeBoard, all of Oregon.
Sister Marie Esperie worked as a secretary and then entered the Congregation September 1933, made her first profession in 1936, and final profession on Aug. 15, 1940. She received her early education in schools in Michigan, Wisconsin and California, and a special certificate in Podolsky Music. Sister was an elementary education teacher and taught in Congregation schools from 1936 to 1971. She then taught music in the schools and with seniors until ill health in 1974 required her semi-retirement to Ventura, Calif. In 2001, Sister came to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, Ind. She was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
Wake service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
