Donald James Hall, 68, of Longwood Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 28, in the Veterans Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. Mr. Hall was born on May 16, 1931, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Jesse James Albert and Jessie Nellie (Read) Hall. Mr. Hall retired from the Allied Signal-Bendix Corporation after 37 years of service, then worked for four years at Michiana Community College, and then for 10 years with Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center.
On Feb. 22, 1958, Donald James married Shelby Hartz, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Donna Hall-Coorman of South Bend; two sons, Dan (Sheila) Hall and Donald Hall, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, Patrick O. Hall, Christina Marie Hall, Jessica Noel Coorman and Daniel Dennis Hall; a sister, Luella B. (Larry) Barber of South Bend; three brothers, Ralph ''Bud'' J. Halle of South Bend, Charles Harvey (Lee) Hall of South Bend and Carl Jack (Ruth) Hall of Goodman, Mo. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Wolf and Marjorie Singletary.
Mr. Hall was a U.S. Army medic for six years with the 141st heavy tank corps, was a life member of V.F.W. Post 9820, a life member of American Legion Post 284, a member of the Masonic Lodge, Terre Coupee #204, F & AM, a life member of the Chain O' Lakes Conservation Club, and was a former scout master and committee chairman with Boy Scout Troop #311. Mr. Hall was a loving husband, devoted father, and cared very much for his surroundings.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home.
