Sister Mary Benedict CSC, of St. Mary’s Convent, died there today after a long illness. She was born in South Bend in 1890. She entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1919, receiving the habit in 1920, and professing her vows in 1922. She taught at schools in Indiana, Illinois and Idaho. She is survived by a brother, Rev. Corneilius Hagerty CSC of South Bend.

Friends may call in the convent parlor until 8 p.m. today. A requiem mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Loretto Chapel, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s.
